Am trying to update CodenameOne plugin but am getting this error

"CodenameOnePlugin - The module Swing Layout Extensions integration was requested in version >= 1.30.1 but only 1.27.1 was found."

What could be causing this and what can I do to solve it?

I tried updating through Update Centre in Netbeans and also by downloading the new plugin from Netbeans' website, none of them work for me.

I got same error after updating my Codename One plugin on Netbeans 7.1.1

" Warning - could not install some modules:
CodenameOnePlugin - The module Swing Layout Extensions integration was requested in version >= 1.30.1 but only 1.19.1 was found.
"

I then installed Netbeans 8.0 and imported the Codename One plugin from the Netbeans 7.1.1 the error went away.

But now when I try to open my resource file on Codename One Designer, other error dialog boxes greets me:
1) "Fatal Error Loading the Resource File: java.io.IOException: Error while trying to read theme property:"
2) "An error occured while trying to load the file
java.io.IOException: Error while trying to read theme property:"

I downgraded from Netbeans 8.0  to 7.4 sometimes ago because I get alot of error messages popping up whenever I tried to use autocomplete of methods.

Currently I switch back to the previous version of CN1 plugin on Netbeans 7.4 and am able to continue working on my projects.

I updated Codename One plugin on Netbeans 8.0 and it worked for me, the error dialogs that was appearing while opening my resource file on CN1 Designer have stopped popping up and my resource file loads well.

We made some changes to the plugin project and it seems to have broken things, we'll look into that. Thanks for the headsup.

HI Shai,

Just to provide some more input in to similar behavior I am seeing:

  • I recently upgraded to NB 8.0.1
  • my current plugin version indicate V 1.0.78 (in NB)
  • when I attempt to update to the latest plugin v1.0.79 then the new plugin 'appears' to download and install but when the IDE restarts then the plugin actually remains to indicate v1.0.78
  • fyi I also tried to completely uninstall the codenameone plugin and reinstalled it but the reinstall continues to indicate the current version being the .78 version

p.s. i am on java 1.8.0.2

appreciate your assistance on the same many thanks

frank

This was fixed yesterday, I forgot to update the thread.
FYI we don't officially support Java 8 and recommend people stick with the latest version of Java 7.

I will advice you downgrade your Java to 1.7.x and your Netbeans to 7.4, as this version of Netbeans is more stable. Now am able to run the latest codenameone plugin after yesterday's fix.

I'm using NetBeans 8 and tested 7.0 both of which worked fine with the new plugin. Are you sure the plugin version you have now is 1.0.79?
Are you using the NetBeans update center or our own?

hi shai i use the netbeans update approach i.e. NB->Tools->plugins (and then i update the plugin form here)

i am using NB 8.0.1 (not NB 8.0) ; which NB 8 version are you using pls?

If you look in the plugin details what version do you see?
I'm using 8.0.1 as well.

I have the same issue. Netbeans say there is an update. I install the update, restart Netbeans and Netbeans say there is a new update. Well, that loop takes forever :).
Netbeans 8, Linux (Arch), I think using Java 8.

Its possible that due to the verification process our plugin wasn't updated. Check the version of the plugin itself that you can see in the plugin settings page.

Yes, the plugin is not updated. After installing, I see this:
Installed version: 1.0.78
Available version: 1.0.79
Author: Codename One
Date: 9/23/14
Source: CodenameOnePlugin Update Center
Homepage: http://codenameone.com

The plugin is downloaded and verified, but after restarting Netbeans, it's all still the same. When restarting Netbeans, the window says 'unpacking CodenameOne', that's all.

I just removed the CodenameOne plugin and tried to re-install. I get an error: The Plugin Installer found problem timeout of loading CodenameOnePlugin(com.codename1/1.0.79) while install the following plugins: CodenameOnePlugin
Now it looks like the plugin is not fully removed, because I now have version 1.0.78 again.

I will advice that you remove your Netbeans and re-install it, Then add your plugins again.

Another thing I've noticed is that, Netbeans 8.0 on windows is not. Am not sure if it's stable on Linux, you may want to give  version 7.4 a try.

Netbeans 8.0.1 may have fixed some of those issues, but I haven't give it a try...since the current version am using is running smoothly.

So that's the problem. The 1.0.79 plugin should fix the problem but the 1.0.78 has some residue in place. I'm afraid I'm not sure how this can be fixed though other than removing the full 7.4 netbeans directory in the app home which is pretty extreme.
