Can you detail how you are installing it. I think I know what the problem is. Please give a step by step how you are installing the app

This is what am doing:
1. Downloading the build results:

result42.zip
result5.zip
MainClass5.jad
MainClass42.jad

to my laptop.

2. I unzip the archives (should i even be doing that ? ) into one
folder name myapp.
3. I connect the device via usb. Am running Ubuntu 11.10.
4. I then copy myapp folder to the phone.
5. I disconnect the phone and, in the phone, i navigate to the copied folder.
6. I run both .jad files, one at a time. It seems to start
installation process, then i hit that error, and everything aborts.

thanks

On the jad file check if the url to your code file is correct

I have this entry:
RIM-COD-URL: MainClass5.cod

and

RIM-COD-URL: MainClass42.cod

in the other jad.

Wierd thing is it runs just fine in the simulator.

Hi David,

This is what you should do

  1. Download and unzip as you have done
  2. Open the un-zipped folder and look for a .cod file. Rename it to .zip
  3. unzip the zip file and copy the .jad file from the previous unzip operation into the new unzipped folder.
  4. Copy the new folder to your phone, it should contain the .jad and about 10 .cod files
  5. Run the jad file.

The best way is to install the Codename One LIVE! application and just click the install button within the application to install.

Alternatively you can try the OTA link in the site, use a URL shortner or email to the device in order to use this.

Placing the files on the device doesn't work for RIM.

You can use the ALX and the blackberry desktop application to install locally. Installing using a jad requires that you unzip the COD file (rename it to zip) and place the zip files in the same directory as the JAD. You then need to place the jad in a webserver and navigate to it (which is why we offer simple OTA install for you).

Thanks Akintayo, Shai.

Akintayo, your method works. Next am going redo the installation with
Shai's steps as well. In the end, i will be using OTA when the app is
ready for production.

Kind Regards,
david

I see you're running Ubuntu and USB... see my posting on this forum about using Codename One on Linux.  You'll want to try out the 'barry' project, using it, to install my app to my old Blackberry 8832, I simply unzip the result42.zip file then run:

bjavaloader load Application42.cod

Everything else is done, a few seconds later you'll see the app on your blackberry application screen. No fuss.

Thank You!!!!

I got the application to install on BlackBerry 7.1.

I'm getting an issue now saying "Error starting TodoApp5: Module 'TodoApp5-1' attempts to access a secure API.

Can you help?
Can you detail how you are installing it. I think I know what the problem is. Please give a step by step how you are installing the app
