In Android you can connect a USB cable and look at the printouts using DDMS or logcat. I haven't played much with iOS logging as I can just run the app in xcode. Currently there is an open issue with working with the cable due to Apples transition to unified logging. We are trying to resolve that but the only reliable way is the pro logging approach.
