Hi,

i know this has been asked before but i couldn´t find any solution and the topics where quite old. How do you debug your app on iOS. I have two problems on an iPhone which don´t cause any problems in the simulator (showing a map with a poi and displaying pictures in a list (this sometimes causes the to crash i think)), but i don´t know how to debug these problems. Can you access the log files created by CN1? And if you want to include the sources in the build you need to be premium user, right?

If you use the Log class you can see the entries in the logs of the device which you can extract via itunes.
Generally issues on the device relate to memory consumption, you can view the How Do I? videos where I talk about performance and debugging.
You should try using the performance monitoring tool to see if there are many allocations.

You need a paying account for the sources, they are just too large and uploading them slows the build considerably.

You could also do an offline build.  I have posted an ant script in my offline builds incubator project that builds for ios.  You may have to do a bit of work to set up the environment but it would allow you to build and debug in Xcode.

How can you extract the logs with iTunes? I am using a Windows 7 machine and have no access to a Mac or XCode for debugging an app on my iOS device.

Thanks.

Back up your device and use Itunes to access the backup file.  Not very convenient but possible.
With no access to a real mac, you're going to have difficulty submitting a finished product to the itunes store.

Thanks. I'll try that.
Just wondering what you meant -- I'll have difficulty with submitting the app to the itunes store -- why? Because of this process or something else?
I really value your input. Thank you.

The program that submits apps to itunes only runs on Macs.

You can use a free quota of a service like Mac In Cloud to do that part of submission. We might introduce automated submission in the future.
