Dialog on tablet takes up full screen width as a square

Im testign on galaxy Tab A, my dialogs are like a square the full width of the screen, with the same height as width. So they look quite weird, how do you make a dialog look normal sized on a tablet?

worked this out, its because its showing in landscape then moving to portrait due to my code. works fine in a uitimer with small delay
