now you have DosBox on your hard drive (computer). You need to install it on your mini console. if not already done, close the KMFD's mod hub's window and go to module/install extra modules. Everytime you install a new emulator, you need to re-install the other ones with RetroArch 184 Xtreme RGUI. now follow the instruction.
now to add a Dos games. Click on the button Add More games. go where your game is and select only the .EXE file. In this example, i will install Wolfenstein 3D. now Wolfenstein 3D is in the list, it might be named wolf3d because it's shortened for the Dos Max name'S length of 8 bit. To change that, click on Wolf3d, and look for game info. You can modify it as you want. now uncase Compress. We don't want to compress it or else the game might not work.
now we need to add the files that wolf3d.exe require in order to work. You can't do this by simply adding more games because the files will not be on the same folder than wolf3d.exe even if you try to make it in sort in the structure folder. You need to add them on Wolf3D.exe's folder. to do this. right click on your recent added game and click on Show in Window Explorer. You will notice now that all the game you installed are in the folder ..\hakchi2-ce-3.8.0-debug\games. fromn the recent opened folder, you can copy and paste all your .wl6 files.
Now you need to select wich emulator does the game run on. For this, right click on the game, click on Select Emulation Core. Click on your game on the left tab. and click on DosBox SVN on your bottom right tab. click on apply and then close.
Hi there - so I am using retroarch for multiple systems, and everything seems to work fine for NES, Genesis, etc... but when I double-click a SNES game, nothing happens. The background of the app changes (which I think happens whenever I launch a game) but nothing happens. So I downloaded another emulator, installed it, and set it as the default. Still nothing.
The strange thing is if I right-click a game and select "launch with" and then EITHER emulator, it works fine. What would cause my installation to work fine using "launch with" but just clicking launch, or double clicking a game does nothing?
If I change the default emulator to snes9x (not using retroarch), the default command-line parameter is blank (which I didn't change because launchbox told me it would populate the most common options for that emulator).
So I don't actually need any specific command line defaults (for snes9x standalone)
BUT... Launchbox isn't associating games with a different emulator even when I change the default emulator for the platform. It's leaving everything associated with retroarch... Madness.
The default emulator check box in the Associated Platforms window doesn't change anything, that's just for the game import process. To change your emulator for your games you have to edit the game and change the emulator and to do it for all the games in a platform you have to select all the games using Control + A and then right clicking and edit to bring up the bulk edit tool, select emulator and then the emulator you want to change it to.
So what is EmuDeck? EmuDeck is a tool (more precisely, a script) that you can download/install which greatly simplifies the installation of 160 emulators and supporting utilities to your Steam Deck. It also pre-configures all the controls, aspect ratio settings, etc. so really there is very little configuration required on your part to get up and running. That said, many will prefer to have step-by-step instructions, additional tips, assistance with a few stubborn features and commentary.
So, here is what I have and what I've done. I purchased an already softmoded xbox a year ago that has UnleashX on it with all the Xbox games loaded and emulators running (Genesis, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, N64, Playstation). I FTP'd all the roms/games from that xbox to my computer .
I have a second xbox that I have softmodded using Rocky5's method and I have installed Emustation because I prefer the way that looks and the way it is setup. I have a 2TB drive installed that seems to be working fine and I have a F and G partition that are about 960GB each that I want to put my games and roms on. I have transferred about 8 Xbox games to the F drive and they are working. I have used the "other settings" menu to redirect Emustation to look for roms at F:/Games. I moved the emulator (and the emulator roms folder) and media folders to the G drive and redirected to those. No matter where I stick the Sega Genesis emulator roms, when I scan (either a complete scan or selected one), it doesn't see them.
2) I know some emulators like specific roms. Could it be that even though these roms work fine under UnleashX that they are not compatible with the emulator loaded on Emustation? If so, can I just install the emulator that is running on my UnleashX Xbox on my Emustation Xbox?
Head over to the EmuDeck website and scroll down until you see the "Download App" button and click it. Once that is finished downloading, move EmuDeck onto your Desktop. (Yes, there is a guide to installing it right above which you can follow as well).
Then, it will ask where you want everything to be installed. This is completely up to you, whether you want it on the Deck's internal storage or the SD card. I put mine on the SD card personally, but it is up to you. After that is clicked, it will install the emulators, as well as EmulationStation-DE and Steam Rom Manager.
Now that EmuDeck has installed, everything will be mitigated into a single EmuDeck application on your Desktop. You can now access everything from there. When you double click it, it will check for an update and then bring you to this new screen.
A ROM file is a game that is put into files usable by either a hacked console or an emulator. Just like the BIOS, we can't provide any links or locations to these ROM files, but the process of adding them is relatively the same. Once found, you will put them in the "roms" folder and under their respective folders in there. For example, GBA = Game Boy Advance, GC = GameCube, PSX = PlayStation 1, and so on. The only exception to this is the Wii U games. In the "wiiu" folder, there will be another "roms" folder, which you will put them in there.
First we just have to add the program to Steam itself to be able to play in Game Mode. For this, all you need to do is go to Steam and in the bottom left corner, click "Add a Game" and then "Add a Non-Steam Game". From there, navigate to your "tools" folder where EmuDeck installed everything and add the "EmulationStation-DE.appimage" file. Now you will have access in Game Mode, so lets hop on over there and check out the program itself.
Next, scroll down and tick each of the consoles you want. For this demo, I will be checking the PS1 and Wii boxes. There may be multiples of a couple of them, so make sure to choose the one that offers the correct emulator! After that, scroll back up to the top and click preview, then at the bottom, click "Generate App List".
There's nothing weird about this really. Since it is Android TV, you can just search for emulators on the Play Store and install them. To get files (roms) onto the device you'll probably want to install something that can host a FTP server - I use Solid Explorer - but there are probably millions of apps that can do this.
Once you have a FTP server running you can just go on your computer and transfer roms over to it. Then you just pair a Bluetooth controller to it, fire up an emulator, pick your rom, and there you go: you are now emulating games on the CCwGTV.
Instead of RetroArch I recommend using the "dedicated" apps that are on the Play Store. You can just do generic search terms like "nes", "snes", "genesis", "ps1" and "n64" and they should be the first result. Most of them are paid but I've found them well worth it, I bought them years ago, probably when I had my first Android phone. They're not that fancy but they're solid and have been around forever.
For Sega, you need to install RetroArch on the mini as well, because the default Genesis emulator is buggy and doesn't run NHL94 properly (lots of reports on here of backwards players, braindead goalies..).
I was using Lunar until the other day but had a sync failure and got a blue screen shutdown in windows 10. Removed Lunar, installed Hakchi, installed the retroarch modules, installed Sega emulator module, synced it and it works great. I like the simple trick of using A button for inhouse emulator or start button for retroarch. I'm keep my Sega mini simple with just Sega games, and the homebrews from here. Only thing I wish Hakchi would include is just intergrating the entire SEGA library rather than original and added games, but I prefer it to Lunar which set off to many alarms in chrome, windows defender and norton.
Emulator: lr-mess
Rom Folder: advision
Extensions: .zip .ZIP
Bios: advision.zip (must be in the roms/advision folder. NOT THE BIOS FOLDER!)
Notes: Because this uses the mess emulator, there's a little more work involved in getting the games to run in which the rom must be named exactly as shown in the bios/mame/hash/advision.xml file. For example, Defender rom must be named defender.zip.
Emulator: lr-mess
Rom Folder: astrocde
Extensions: .7z .7Z .bin .BIN .zip .ZIP
Bios: astrocde.zip (must be in the roms/astrocde folder. NOT THE BIOS FOLDER!)
Notes: Because this uses the mess emulator, there's a little more work involved in getting the games to run in which the rom must be named exactly as shown in the bios/mame/hash/astrocde.xml file. For example, The Incredible Wizard rom must be named wizard.bin. If it is zipped, it must be named wizard.zip.
