Dear CodeMeta PMC,

A few months ago I have suggested the following proposal for the V3.0 authors list:
V3.0 citation proposal:
Matthew B. Jones, Carl Boettiger, Abby Cabunoc Mayes, Arfon Smith, Peter Slaughter, Kyle Niemeyer, Yolanda Gil, Martin Fenner, Krzysztof Nowak, Mark Hahnel, Luke Coy, Alice Allen, Mercè Crosas, Ashley Sands, Neil Chue Hong, Patricia Cruse, Daniel S. Katz, Carole Goble, Morane Gruenpeter, Valentin Lorentz, Thomas Morrell, Daniel Garijo, Bryce Mecum . 2023. CodeMeta: an exchange schema for software metadata. Version 3.0.

In yellow the new PMC members who weren't authors of v2.0.
In turquoise a contributor who contributed directly on the jsonld file

👉 Let me know if you identified other individuals that should be credited in the v3.0 on the citation. All contributions to the v3.0 will be listed in this file under a new v3.0 section:
🗓 Please do so before August 24th

The contributors list is much longer than the authors list with people that have suggested new
crosswalks but didn't actively change the vocabulary.

There are a few people that participated in discussions in issues that have resulted as modifications to the vocabulary. These participants are not identified here as authors.

Three separate emails are planned in the coming days for:
- the v3.0 identifier
- the website update of the /terms page
- the v3.0 promotion

Kind regards,

Again, great summary, thanks. I think the list you have for the citation looks good. The one change I would make is to move Morane to the first author position in front of me and Carl, because you have led the charge on the 3.0 release, and we should acknowledge that leadership.

In terms of other contributors, e.g., for crosswalks, in science-on-schema.org we added an "all-contributors" section to the website (see https://github.com/ESIPFed/science-on-schema.org//#contributors)  to acknowledge everyone who has contributed, which I think would be valuable here as well.  The README for this is generated from the .allcontributorssrc configuration file, and there's a nice node utility to convert that into markdown to be included in the README.md file. I suggest it would be nice to adopt this for codemeta as well so that we can acknowledge other contributors in addition to the cited authors.

Hello,
+1 to move Morane as first author of this version to credit her leadership in this release.
I also like Matt's idea to credit all contributors in a separate file. It will be easier to maintain across versions.
Best,
Daniel

Hello all,

What a tremendous surprise! I am truly honored to receive such a vote of confidence.
This initiative, vocabulary and community is a group effort and I couldn't do it without the PMC's consultation and without Valentin (@progval) who is actually the person behind the PRs review and the v3.0 release.

As much as I'm flattered by Matt's proposal to put me as first author, I would like to suggest having the PMC  members at the start of the citation and keep the first four authors as is.
This suggestion is rooted in maintaining citation consistency and recognizing that the changes in version 3.0 are relatively minor.

Citation proposal for v3.0 with additional names from the PMC in yellow and other name in turquoise:

Matthew B. Jones, Carl Boettiger, Abby Cabunoc Mayes, Arfon Smith,  Morane Gruenpeter, Valentin Lorentz, Thomas Morrell, Daniel Garijo, Peter Slaughter, Kyle Niemeyer, Yolanda Gil, Martin Fenner, Krzysztof Nowak, Mark Hahnel, Luke Coy, Alice Allen, Mercè Crosas, Ashley Sands, Neil Chue Hong, Patricia Cruse, Daniel S. Katz, Carole Goble, Bryce Mecum,,. 2023. CodeMeta: an exchange schema for software metadata. Version 3.0.

I would like to reiterate my immense gratitude for the opportunity to participate in and lead the CodeMeta efforts.

Warm regards,
