[codemeta-pmc] Governance repository and PMC chair

Hello CodeMeta PMC,

A new repository for the governance is now here (but relatively empty):

We will update the governance repository with roles and documents soon (using the content heer: https://hedgedoc.softwareheritage.org/codemeta-governance?both)

In the governance model we agreed upon, there is a role for a PMC chair for which the PMC should vote.

It would be preferable to schedule a vote for the PMC chair before releasing the v3.0.

Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of experience in community voting

👉 If anyone with experience can guide us here with the most simple and accessible votes process, I would be very grateful

Hello CodeMeta PMC,

Back again on this topic of PMC chair.

Here is the direct text from the governance we chose:

3.5 PMC Chair

The PMC Chair is a single individual, voted for by the PMC members. Once someone has been appointed Chair, they remain in that role until they choose to retire, or the PMC casts a two-thirds majority vote to remove them.

The PMC Chair has no additional authority over other members of the PMC: the role is one of coordinator and facilitator. The Chair is also expected to ensure that all governance processes are adhered to, and has the casting vote when the project fails to reach consensus.

Since it will be more desirable to have a vote for a PMC chair, I suggest to do a poll for the vote which I will send on May 15th (I'm off on vacation at the end of the day :-).

This poll will contain all the names of the PMC and voters must be on the PMC.

It will include:

• Matthew B. Jones
• Carl Boettiger
• Abby Cabunoc Mayes
• Arfon Smith
• Valentin Lorentz
• Thomas Morrell
• Daniel Garijo

Let me know if you prefer not to appear on the form, even if this is a formality vote.
