Hey, this reminded me of something I've been thinking of doing for a while, but I don't know how to get started.  You know how when you look at a map of another country (or even a different state or region of the US), it's easy to get a distorted perception of the size of that country/region and the distances between any two given sites, say New Delhi and Hyderabad, or Buenos Aires and Santiago (forgive my spellng!).  Even if you can look up the actual distance with some tool, it would be much more meaningful to me to superimpose a map of that region over a map of the region where I've lived most of my life, Michigan and the Midwest, drawn to the same scale of course.  That way you get a much clearer picture in your mind of the scale of some part of the world that you might be visiting, or just curious about. 

I've done Google map mash-ups before, but never something quite like this that involves superimposing two maps.  I'm not even sure how I'd want the user interface to look like.  Has anyone else thought about this or have an idea how this might be approached?
