Hi,

I'm one of the folks who's got a conference and precompiler ticket but no room at the Kalahari (because Thursday night is unavailable). I was wondering if anyone else was staying at the Fairfield Inn up the street? I called the hotel and they said they'd have a cab/shuttle to take folks between the hotel and the Kalahari -- does any have any experience with that, is it reliable/timely?

I used the shuttles last year but I don't think it is a fair comparison. The first couple days were good but then we got hit by a lot of snow. I was a bit further away and had to call multiple times before someone came. It was a rough time because of the weather so I can't blame them for that. We got 6" of snow if I remember correctly.

So my guess is they will run well, but you will have to be patient because they only have 3 shuttles buses I think and lots of people to move around.

I'll be at the Fairfield, but this is my first Codemash so I don't have any experience with the shuttles.

If you're driving to CodeMash, you can always take your car.  The Kalahari has a huge parking lot, parking is free, and I've found it useful to have our own wheels to head out for dinners at nearby places.

With lots of people staying off site, car pooling on the fly might be a great option. Perhaps there could be a signup page or places to meet where drivers and passengers could meet to get somewhere. This is a very friendly crowd but the place is huge so a central location for people trying to get somewhere would probably help a lot.
