Codefest Meeting Recap

Good morning,

Thanks to those of you who made it out on this blustery day.  Our next meeting will be Thursday, December 21 at 9:00 a.m. at Google.   See important actions highlighted below.

Today we reviewed a draft flyer and discussed the introductory slides for the Tech Chat sessions.  Here are the key takeaways. 

1. For the Tech Chats, we will retain last year's Codefest branding.  We will direct people to register at SteelCityCodefest.com (than can redirect to eventbrite via link or other method). We will add logos of some of the tech panelists organizations to give a sample of the people that will be there.  Josh is going to take the lead on drafting an updated flyer. 

2. For the info slides we are going to focus on some high-level topics such as: questions to ask when looking for a tech solutions, understanding business and maintenance costs. Josh, Mike, and Deb are going to draft the slide for group review / input.

3.  We discussed adding on a follow up to the Tech Chats to help nonprofits digest the information they received.  Deb has graciously offered to meet with any participating nonprofits individually after the Tech Chats to provide follow up. We will be advertising this at the sessions. 

4.  We also discussed the timing of the Codefest event.  I indicated that I wasn't sure of the timing and was reluctant to advertise any particular timing at the Tech Chats.  Based on URA budget, it is not clear that we will have direct funds to pay a coordinator and so the committee will need to decide what other methods we might explore to raise funds - foundations, sponsorships ect.  This will likely affect timing as well.  We can discuss this further at the next meeting. 

Important Actions

• Our internal deadline for flyers / website is this Wednesday.  Deb brought up that Thursday is GPNP's Annual meeting.  We want to use the opportunity to at least pass out flyers. We all feel this is an important opportunity to get the word out and so we are going to push forward to have something for the event. 
• Sign up for Tech Panel  here.  If you want to be on the Tech Panel please sign up on the spreadsheet.  I am going to start reaching out to non-committee members and want to know how many slots I need to fill.  Don't delay.  Do it today!
