Hi Miro,
This is a great question! I haven't heard of Adobe Muse before, but if it's anything like
Google Web Designer, it probably doesn't require HTML/CSS knowledge to make sites with. And those aren't the only tools that don't require programming knowledge to make a site. There are
lots of others, for example,
Squarespace,
WordPress,
Weebly,
The Grid,
Macaw, and
FROONT. With all of those tools, you can do a lot of stuff without coding. But, here are a few reasons
for learning to code:
- Coding will
always give you more customizability/control over the website than something like mentioned above will.
- Some people want a website made from scratch, no matter how easily it could be made some other way
- Even though some of the services above are Content Management Systems, you can code your own CMS with, say,
Rails, and have total control over everything - unlike with Weebly or WordPress.
- And, even if you're writing a blog post for your WordPress site with it's pre-built theme, being able to control the HTML can let you add data to your post in a special way, or make your post look different than other posts.
Numbers three and four are
kind of repeats of point number one, but I thought it might be worth mentioning them anyway.
There's a surprisingly large demand for people who know how to code websites from scratch. I think it's definitely worth learning if you're interested in programming.
I hope this helps! :)
