CODE BLUE 2025 will host training sessions prior to the main conference, and we are now accepting applications from companies and communities interested in holding training sessions aimed at improving skills in the field of cybersecurity. Last year, a wide range of practical training sessions were held, including forensic analysis, malware analysis, penetration testing, and advanced Windows exploitation. This year, we look forward to receiving training proposals that will help make CODE BLUE even more exciting!

またカンファレンスに先立ち、2025年11月16日（日）〜17日（月）の日程で今年もトレーニングを開催します。

Mayhem（旧称：ForAllSecure）のCEOであるデイビッド・ブラムリー氏は、ソフトウェアセキュリティ自動化分野の第一人者です。セキュリティ業界で20年以上のキャリアを持ち、数多くの学術論文を発表してきたほか、業績賞の受賞歴も豊富で、USENIX Securityなどの著名な国際カンファレンスでもスピーカーを務めています。
同社が提供するセキュリティテストツール「Mayhem」は、ファジング、シンボリック実行、機械学習といった多層的な解析手法を用い、攻撃者の視点からコードの脆弱性を自動で検出します。この技術の源流にあるのが、2016年にアメリカ国防高等研究計画局（DARPA）が主催し、DEF CON 24を舞台に開催されたCTF大会「CGC（Cyber Grand Challenge）」で優勝した同名の自律型セキュリティシステム「Mayhem」です。CGCは、脆弱性の発見からエクスプロイトの生成、セキュリティパッチの適用までをすべて自動で行う、次世代のセキュリティ技術を競うコンテストでした。
ブラムリー氏の研究ビジョンは、「世界中のソフトウェアに悪用可能なバグがないかを自動で検査するシステムを開発すること」にあります。今回の講演では、このビジョンに基づき、信頼できるコンピューター社会の実現に向けた取り組みが語られる予定です。

We are pleased to announce that David Brumley, a leading authority in the field of software security automation, professor at Carnegie Mellon University, and CEO of Mayhem (formerly ForAllSecure), will be the opening keynote speaker at this year’s CODE BLUE conference!
In addition, ahead of the conference, we will hold training sessions from Sunday, November 16 to Monday, November 17, 2025. We are pleased to share the outlines of each training course and officially open registration now.

★CODE BLUE 2025 welcomes David Brumley as Opening Keynote Speaker!

David Bramley, CEO of Mayhem (formerly ForAllSecure), is a pioneer in the field of software security automation. With over 20 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry, he has published numerous academic papers and received multiple prestigious awards. He has also been invited to speak at leading international conferences such as USENIX Security.
Mayhem, the security testing platform developed by his company, leverages a multi-layered approach that combines fuzzing, symbolic execution, and machine learning to automatically identify software vulnerabilities from an attacker’s perspective. The origins of this technology can be traced back to the autonomous security system, also named Mayhem, which won the Cyber Grand Challenge (CGC) hosted by the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) at DEF CON 24 in 2016. CGC showcased fully autonomous systems capable of identifying vulnerabilities, generating exploits, and applying patches—entirely without human intervention, pushing the boundaries of next-generation cybersecurity.
Brumley’s research vision is to create systems that automatically detect exploitable bugs in software across the globe. In his keynote, he will discuss efforts to realize a trustworthy computing society based on this ambitious vision.

David Brumley is the CEO of Mayhem (formerly ForAllSecure) and a professor at Carnegie Mellon University, recognized as a leading authority in software security automation.
In 2012, he co-founded ForAllSecure with members of Carnegie Mellon’s elite CTF team, PPP.
In 2016, the team gained global recognition by winning the Cyber Grand Challenge, hosted by DARPA (the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency).
Brumley is also deeply committed to educating the next generation and launched picoCTF, a free computer security education program.

近年、サイバーセキュリティは外交・経済などを含む幅広い分野と密接に結びつき、国家安全保障において不可欠な要素となっています。こうした背景のもと、2025年5月には「サイバー対処能力強化法および関連法」が成立し、官民連携の強化、通信情報の活用、アクセス制御や無害化措置、組織体制の整備といった取り組みが今後具体化されることとなりました。これらの施策は、1年6ヵ月以内に施行される予定です。この流れを受けて2025年7月1日には、内閣サイバーセキュリティセンター（NISC）が改組され、新たに「国家サイバー統括室（NCO）」が発足しました。日本のサイバーセキュリティ政策は大きな転換期を迎え、今後は安全保障に関する取り組みが本格的に検討・実行されることになります。
今回のCODE BLUEでは、NCOの内閣サイバー官を務める飯田陽一氏をスピーカーとしてお迎えします。歴史的な局面において、官民が意見を交わし知見を共有する場としての役割を果たすことが、CODE BLUEの使命であると考えます。本講演は、日本のサイバーセキュリティの未来を考える上で大きな示唆となるでしょう。

2. コンテスト・ワークショップの概要（第一弾の発表）

今年もカンファレンスと併設で、インシデント対応を中心としたブルーチーム演習をはじめ、ドローンをソフトウェア・ハードウェアの両面からハッキングするワークショップ、スマートホームデバイスやOTデバイスを対象にしたCTF、ファイアウォールをすり抜ける新たな手法を学ぶハンズオンなど、多様なコンテストやワークショップが開催されます。いずれもCODE BLUE参加者であれば誰でも参加可能です！

＜1. TRAPA Cyber Range Exercise＞（主催：TRAPA Security）
「TRAPA Cyber Range Exercise」は、企業におけるサイバーセキュリティ脅威への対応力を高めるためのブルーチーム演習です。参加者はサイバーインシデント対応チームの一員となり、シミュレーションされた攻撃シナリオを体験します。大量の脅威アラートを処理しながら攻撃の兆候を見極め、課題を乗り越えることで、実践的な対応力と分析力を習得できます。
＜2. Twin-Core CTF: From Soldering Fumes to PLC Pwn＞（主催：Traboda CyberLabs）
だれでも参加できるハードウェアCTF。参加者は、スマートフォームデバイスを模したオープンソース基板のCompatrIoT（IoT） と、PLCを模した基板のCompatriOT（OT） を組み立て、解析・攻撃に挑戦します。最初は簡単なハンダ付けでフラグを獲得し、その後はファームウェア抽出、無線やNFCの実験、プロトコル改ざん、制御ロジックの攻略などを体験。成果はリアルタイムでスコアボードに表示され、メンターのサポートによりスムーズに進行します。初心者でも好奇心さえあれば参加でき、新たなスキルと基板を持ち帰れます。
＜3. Drone Hacking＞（主催：Loong）
実践的なドローンハッキングプログラム。UAV（無人航空機）をソフトウェアまたはハードウェアの側面からハッキングする方法を学びます。また、参加者は実際にドローンを組み立てることもできます。
＜4. Whispers Through the Firewall: Data Exfiltration and C2 with Port Knocking＞（主催：Hubert Lin）
このワークショップでは、従来のポートノッキングを発展させたSaucepot C2を用い、厳格なファイアウォール環境下でのデータ流出やC2通信手法を学びます。宛先ポートではなく送信元ポートを活用することで、制限の多い環境でも通信を実現可能。ハンズオン形式でMITRE ATT&CKの戦術を体験できるワークショップです。
＜5. CyberTAMAGO＞（主催：Shota Shinogi）
Cyber TAMAGO は、サイバーセキュリティに関わるツールやアイデアを持ち寄り、「いいね」を送り合いながら育て、日本のセキュリティ人材を世界に送り出したい―そんな思いから始まった取り組みです。企画では、似た分野のツール開発者が集まり、パネルディスカッション形式で紹介・議論を行います。さらに、アイデアを起点に、参加者がそれぞれの得意分野を持ち寄るハッカソンやコラボレーションの場も用意しています。
＜6. Biohacking Village＞（主催：Nina Alli）
医療機器のサイバーセキュリティに関する洞察に満ちたトークセッションから、実践的なハンズオン・ボード・ワークショップ、現実の医療シナリオに基づいて設計された没入型CTFを開催します。また実際の医療機器も用意しており、初心者から熟練のエンジニアまで、誰でもこれらのシステムの仕組みやセキュリティ対策について直接体験することができます。
＜7. Car Hacking Village＞（主催：Mohammad Ghali (Kamel)）
Car Hacking Villageでは、現代の車両に使われているプロトコルやネットワークを学び、実際の車載システムやアフターマーケット機器を使ってハンズオンでスキルを磨きます。CANバスやAutomotive Ethernetなど、自動車特有の技術に触れられる貴重なチャンスです。さらに、世界トップレベルの研究者による最新の脆弱性やエクスプロイト手法の講演、Pwn2Own Automotiveで使用されたハードウェアを用いた自由なハッキングエリアも用意しています。DEF CONで話題のCar Hacking Village PCBバッジが当たるチャンスも！
＜8. Aerospace Village＞（主催：Henry Danielson）
Aerospace Villageでは、航空宇宙とセキュリティの最前線に立つ研究や取り組みを紹介し、イノベーターとセキュリティ専門家たちが協力して、安心で信頼できる未来を築いていく姿を体感できます。CubeSatのデモンストレーションや、初心者や若者向けのスペース・グランド・チャレンジ、CCSDSプロトコルの自動セキュリティ評価、さらには宇宙空間におけるサイバー攻撃への備えなど、航空宇宙分野におけるセキュリティの最前線を紹介します。
＜9. ICS Village＞（主催：Tom VanNorman）
ICS Villageでは、産業用制御システム（ICS）と運用技術（OT）のセキュリティを学べるハンズオン型のワークショップを開催します。CTF形式の課題を通して、PLCプログラミングやネットワークトラフィック解析、フォレンジックの基礎から応用までを体験できるほか、ミニチュアのスマートシティを使い、実際のICS/OTの脆弱性や防御策をライブで体験できるインタラクティブな展示も用意しています。
＜10. Maritime Hacking Village＞（主催：Duncan Woodbury）
Maritime Hacking Villageでは、リアルな海上ハッキング体験を通じて、グローバルな海運業界で使われているテクノロジーに対する攻撃と防御の両面を学ぶことができます。実際の海上環境を想定したシナリオを元に、海上システムに関わる多様な技術とセキュリティ課題に挑むことができるCTFのほか、業界の第一線で活躍する専門家による最新の講演も行われます。

We are pleased to announce that Yoichi Iida, National Cyber Director of the National Cybersecurity Office (NCO), will deliver the closing keynote at CODE BLUE 2025! Additionally, we are excited to share the first overview of the contests and workshops held alongside the conference. Furthermore, registration is still open for four training sessions scheduled prior to the conference. As capacity is limited, we encourage those interested to register early.

1. CODE BLUE 2025 welcomes Yoichi Iida as Closing Keynote Speaker!

In recent years, cybersecurity has become deeply intertwined with a broad range of fields, including diplomacy and the economy, and is now a vital component of national security. Against this backdrop, in May 2025, Japan enacted the Act on the Enhancement of Cyber Response Capabilities (*1) and related laws(*2). These new laws aim to strengthen public-private cooperation, enable the strategic use of communication data, implement access control and content sanitization measures, and establish robust organizational frameworks. These measures are scheduled to take effect within the next 18 months. In line with this development, on July 1, 2025, the National center of Incident readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC) was restructured into a new entity, the National Cybersecurity Office (NCO). Japan’s cybersecurity policy has thus entered a major turning point, paving the way for the full-scale consideration and implementation of national security–focused initiatives.
At this year’s CODE BLUE, we are honored to welcome Mr. Yoichi Iida, National Cyber Director at the National Cybersecurity Office (NCO), as a keynote speaker.
We believe that CODE BLUE’s mission is to serve as a vital platform where government and industry can exchange views and share insights during this historic turning point. This keynote lecture is expected to offer significant insights for envisioning the future of cybersecurity.

2. Contests and Workshops at CODE BLUE 2025 – First Lineup Announced

As in previous years, a wide range of contests and workshops will be held alongside the conference. These include a blue team exercise focused on incident response, a hands-on drone hacking workshop covering both software and hardware aspects, a CTF targeting smart home and OT devices, and a practical session on advanced techniques to bypass firewalls. All CODE BLUE attendees are welcome to join any of these sessions!

<1. TRAPA Cyber Range Exercise> (Organizer: TRAPA Security)
The TRAPA Cyber Range Exercise is a blue team training program designed to strengthen participants’ ability to respond to cybersecurity threats in corporate environments. Participants will take on the role of a cyber incident response team member and work through simulated attack scenarios. By handling a large volume of threat alerts, identifying signs of attacks and overcoming various challenges, participants will be able to enhance their practical response and analytical capabilities.
<2. Twin-Core CTF: From Soldering Fumes to PLC Pwn> (Organizer: Traboda CyberLabs)
This is a hardware CTF open to everyone. Participants will take on the challenge of assembling, analyzing, and attacking two open-source boards: 'CompatrIoT (IoT)', which mirrors smart-home devices, and 'CompatriOT (OT)', which simulates a PLC. The challenge begins with simple soldering tasks to earn flags, then players explore firmware extraction, wireless and NFC tricks, protocol tampering, and control‑logic mischief. Achievements are displayed on a live scoreboard in real time, and mentors provide support to keep things running smoothly. Even beginners can join as long as they have curiosity, and they leave with new skills and a custom board.
<3. Drone Hacking> (Organizer: Loong)
It is an on-site practical drone hacking activity. Audiences will be provided with assembled parts of UAV and learn how to hack the drone in either software or hardware based environments. They also have the opportunity to build a drone themselves.
<4. Whispers Through the Firewall: Data Exfiltration and C2 with Port Knocking> (Organizer: Hubert Lin)
In this workshop, participants will use Saucepot C2, an advanced port knocking technique, to learn about data exfiltration and C2 communication methods in strict firewall environments. By utilizing source ports instead of destination ports, communication becomes possible even in highly restricted settings. This hands-on workshop offers an opportunity to experience MITRE ATT&CK techniques.
<5. CyberTAMAGO> (Organizer: Shota Shinogi)
Cyber TAMAGO is an initiative born from the desire to share cybersecurity tools and ideas, exchange “likes,” and ultimately send security talent to global tool-focused events. The program features panel discussions where participants introduce and debate their tools with peers working on similar projects. We also plan hackathons and collaborations, where participants combine their skills to transform ideas into reality.
<6. Biohacking Village> (Organizer: Nina Alli)
Biohacking Village offers insightful talk sessions on medical device cybersecurity, practical hands-on workshops, and an immersive CTF based on real-world medical scenarios. A variety of real medical devices will also be available, enabling participants—from beginners to experienced engineers—to directly explore how these systems function and how to secure them.
<7. Car Hacking Village> (Organizer: Mohammad Ghali (Kamel))
Car Hacking Village offers hands-on experience with real in-vehicle systems and aftermarket devices while learning about key automotive protocols such as CAN Bus and Automotive Ethernet. The village also features talks by world-class researchers presenting the latest vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques in the automotive domain. A dedicated open hacking area equipped with hardware used in Pwn2Own Automotive is available for exploration and experimentation. Participants will also have a chance to win the popular Car Hacking Village PCB badge, as seen at DEF CON.
<8. Aerospace Village> (Organizer: Henry Danielson)
At Aerospace Village, you can explore cutting-edge research and initiatives at the forefront of aerospace and security, experiencing how innovators and security experts collaborate to build a safe and trustworthy future. The village features demonstrations of CubeSats, the Space Grand Challenge designed for beginners and young people, automated security assessments for CCSDS protocols, and preparations against cyberattacks in outer space—showcasing the latest advancements in aerospace security.

ICS Village offers a hands-on workshop focused on the security of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT). Through CTF-style challenges, participants can explore topics ranging from PLC programming, network traffic analysis, and digital forensics, covering both foundational skills and advanced techniques. Additionally, interactive exhibits featuring a miniature smart city allow attendees to witness live demonstrations of real ICS/OT vulnerabilities and defense measures.

At Maritime Hacking Village, you can learn both offensive and defensive aspects of technologies used in the global maritime industry through realistic sea-based hacking experiences. 今年の講演者募集 (CFP) には国内外から550件以上の応募があり、厳選された29本のセッションが採択されました。テーマは、コンシューマーデバイス（Google Pixel、Samsung Galaxy、Amazon Kindle）のセキュリティ、複数の自動車メーカーに影響を及ぼすRCE（リモートコード実行）、サイバー犯罪集団や国家支援の脅威アクターの動向、さらには国際的な法学者が論じる「サイバー対処能力強化法」など多岐にわたります。

1. The Timetable for This Year’s Talks Is Now Available!
--------------------------------------------------------
This year’s Call for Papers (CFP) received over 550 submissions from both domestic and international applicants. After a rigorous selection process, 29 sessions were chosen. The themes cover a wide range of topics, including security of consumer devices such as Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, and Amazon Kindle; remote code execution (RCE) vulnerabilities affecting multiple automakers; trends in cybercriminal groups and state-sponsored threat actors; and discussions by international legal experts on the Act on the Enhancement of Cyber Response Capabilities, among others.
The conference venue is divided into Tracks1-3, with Track1 featuring the main track talks, Track2 featuring "U25" talks by speakers under 25 years old and "Open Talks” by sponsor company. Track3 will feature "Bluebox," which will introduce open source tools and projects. (Details of of Open Talks by sponsor company will be announced later)

3. Training Program Applications Still Open! (Until Nov 11)

Following the success of last year, CODE BLUE will again offer training sessions. They are scheduled to take place from Sunday, November 16 to Monday, November 17, 2025, prior to the conference. This year, four training courses will be offered, covering topics such as AI agents and Windows event log analysis. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity to learn advanced cybersecurity skills directly from specialists actively working on the front lines. Additionally, all training participants will receive tickets to attend the CODE BLUE conference. We Look Forward to Your Participation!
