Working on nailing down a specific date, and hope to have that by tomorrow, but we are hosting with the support of the Partnership for Sustainable Communities, a follow up to the Code for Livability event in Denver.  You can learn more at http://codeforcommunities.org.  We just launched our request for app ideas.  You don't have to live in Denver to submit an idea.  We will be using local data mostly to build apps and use them in Denver, but they will be made broadly available to all communities as open source apps.  You can submit ideas here:

Looking forward to seeing great ideas.

Has anyone created a dashboard/indicators for cities looking at monitoring their progress on sustainability initiatives?

Michelle,

Lots of people are working on variations of this, but still in nascent stages.  There are some open source libraries that make it easy to take data and visualize it, but we haven't seen an open source sustainability dashboard, yet.  There have been some proprietary things but none that I've seen that are super user friendly.  Hoping this is coming around this year.

Best,
Jason

Hi Michelle and Jason --

We're beginning work on a web-based dashboard for tracking project targets. The hard work of calculating the indicators still needs to be done by hand, but we hope to make it easier for citizens to keep track, and for planners to publish updates.

We are just getting started. I'm interested in hearing from other people who might use this or be interested in collaborating on development. I'll share links as we make progress.

Frank

I'd be interested in chatting more. I've seen a few dashboard/mapping type ideas, but was concerned about spending our budget rebuilding what may already be in development. Frank/Jason, I can be reached at mferrier(at)elon.edu. We might be able to do more if we combine forces.
