I thought I'd pass this out to the group.  I've been chatting with some folks from OCLC and I think we'd like to bring the C4L Midwest conference back to Columbus, OH in 2019.  I'm currently talking to my Org, but before I get to far along -- I wanted to see if anyone else was making plans.  If not, I'd like to announce, setting dates, etc. really quickly in Jan. 2019.

Thanks,

I like this idea.  I've not been to Columbus in ages.

As a heads' up, we may have a Chicago Code4Lib, possibly the week of May 13.

This shouldn't preclude any Midwest meeting in Columbus; I'll certainly try to be there. In the past, C4L Midwest and Chicago C4L have been separate entities, although our planets sometimes align.  I just thought to mention as you think about dates, etc.

I would probably attend both. --Eric Morgan

Chicago Code4Lib will be on May 21, 2019, in case it inflects your planning.

Thanks,

Hello Code4Lib Midwest 2019 Planning thread!

My name is Jarrod Wilson and I am the Head of IT for the Kalamazoo Public Library in Kalamazoo MI. We just attended the Chicago event and had such a great time that we would like to offer Kalamazoo as a possible host for 2019 Midwest Conference if Columbus is not still planning to do it. I think Kalamazoo would be a great mid point for folks coming from IL, OH, IN and MI. We can arrange for a sponsor as well as a fun after event meet-up at Bell's Brewery here in Kalamazoo.

I wanted to put this out there as I saw this thread had gone a bit cold in recent months. Please let me know how everyone feels about this offer and if Columbus is still the spot for this year we could defer to next year as well.

Thanks,

Jarrod Wilson

For what it's worth, I think this is a great idea!  It's pretty easy to get to Kalamazoo from Chicago via Amtrak.

I also would look forward to trying Bell's Oberon fresh from keg.  :)

I just saw, via the national C4L list, that Midwest is happening in Columbus next week:

Looks like there's a full slate of presenters.  I had no idea; for some reason, I thought this Google Group was the primary organizing platform.  (I don't always peruse all of the national listserv mailings; my bad... I'll start paying more attention.)  Anybody know what channel was used to for communication and decisions?  Maybe this Google Group is obsolete?

Anyways, best of luck.  It's a little too soon for me to swing the trip, however.
