Hello Shawn. Thank you for putting together the meeting with Brian. I have bandwidth to put Brian's data in a relational model if your other options don't yield the results you seek. In the meantime, please send me a copy of Brian's spreadsheet so that I can create a data cube for him. Please send it to ishmael...@ingenarius.com.
Thanks in advance!!!

Hey Ishmael,

Here's the data.  Posting it here in case anyone else wants to look at it as well.

Thanks for posting this.

Did he mention the data's source? After looking it over, I'm guessing that it was
drawn from the Nevada Report Card website [0], right?

Did Brian have any specific ideas about were we could help? I had got the impression
that people were leaning towards some kind of data dashboard, but the existing one
seems decent enough. Or am I being premature? I remember you mentioned that LVCCLD
(the library) had additional data, and Shawn and Ryan had a meeting lined up.

On another note, one thing I'd like to add to our DA wish list would be current and
recent GIS data for the targeted schools' attendance zones from CCSD. They've
published maps, but only as PDFs. I think it best that the request comes from the
brigade captains (or Brian), but I can give them a call if you guys are slammed.

The data source I assume was mostly pulled from the Nevada Report Card website, yes.

The existing dashboard that they're going to show is mostly a bunch of graphs that read like fuel gauges, with a "bad" on one side and "good" on the other from what Brian told us.

What he'd really like to see is something that shows a comparison between the indicators and how students are doing on test scores.  Something easily readable that shows (and this is just a random example) that if a student comes from a low income family, there's a clear connection to poor test scores (and again, I don't know if that's true yet, but those comparisons are what he wants to see and show).

Where are you seeing the PDFs for GIS data for attendance zones?  If I can site that site, I'll see what we can do about getting the data that creates those PDFs.

Okay, I guess we'll have a better idea of what's feasible once we have more data.

Re: school zones, the PDF maps are here:

I searched for my address, clicked through the bus eligibility link, and landed on an ESRI
web map here:

Here's another layout of the data on a google doc, including the demographic and fiscal data for the years 2010-2013, so we can compare over time as well.
