Folks,
there have been a lot of alarming things happening over the past 10 days, but this one directly affects the use of open data in service of a better government for everyone.  Please review the link below and contact your Senators.  Thank you.

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no Federal funds may be used to design, build, maintain, utilize, or provide access to a Federal database of geospatial information on community racial disparities or disparities in access to affordable housing.

Thanks for the heads-up Carlos.

For anyone looking for more context, it seems this bill is seeking to repeal the Affirmatively furthering fair housing regulation of 2015. [1]

Most specifically to our efforts, this bill could mean:

1. Federal housing data could be removed from data.gov [2]
2. Any housing data on data.ok.gov [3] could be removed if it was collected/compiled with federal grants/awards
3. Local housing datasets could be prevented/removed if they  are collected/compiled with federal grants/awards

The bill has been referred to the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. Neither Inhofe nor Lankford are on that committee; but that could mean that they (more likely their staff) haven't taken a position on this bill yet - which is a good time to give them your input.

You can also click "Get alerts" on the congress.gov page for the bill to receive email updates on the status of the bill.

The EFF has a good guide on contacting congress:
