I'm not too sure if this is open source or not, but if it is you
should host it on GoogleCode or SourceForge. I strongly believe that
this will get popular if you do so and you'll have the support of many
developers. I'd love to use it for an upcoming project that might
explode into a huge social networking app with a million users in the
next couple of years. The only thing that I'm worried is that it's in
alpha, I have no idea if it will turn into a bottleneck once we start
processing crazy amounts of requests, and because it's future is
uncertain (at least that's what I can deduct). What do you think?

Some open-source projects I've worked with that have gained popularity
because of being open source: jQuery, CakePHP, & MySQL.

Jorge

Hey Jorge,

CodaServer is definitely open source, under the GPL. The source code is hosted on GitHub; you can find a link to the repository on the homepage, http://codaserver.com.

If you run into any problems building your website with CodaServer, please don't hesitate to ask questions on this list; I'll do what I can to help. Were you building in PHP using the client library?

Best regards,
Mike

Ah! I should've looked more closely.

Yes, I will be using PHP for this project which would involve your PHP
client library. I have to say that I'm very pleased with your
ingenuity. I'm still reading through the docs and your blog to get a
better understanding of how CodaServer works and how I'll tackle this,
but it's just what I was looking for. I was looking for a rules engine
and this is the only thing I've found that actually, at least from the
surface, meets my requirements.
