[Conferences] Call for Participation: SMOT4SB Challenge at MVA 2025

Dear colleagues,
We are excited to invite you to participate in the Small Multi-Object Tracking for Spotting Birds (SMOT4SB) Challenge, an official challenge at MVA 2025, which will be held in Kyoto, Japan. This challenge builds on the success of the MVA 2023 SOD4SB Challenge, extending the task from static image-based detection to dynamic video-based tracking of small birds captured by UAVs.
🔹 Challenge Overview:
Participants will develop and evaluate multi-object tracking (MOT) algorithms to detect and track small birds across multiple frames in aerial video sequences. The challenge introduces motion-aware tracking, requiring participants to address challenges such as occlusions, motion blur, and rapid movement.
🔹 Why Participate?
- Tackle a real-world tracking problem in UAV-based bird detection
- Benchmark your method on a challenging dataset in a fair evaluation framework
- Win up to 200,000 JPY, with a total of 550,000 JPY in prizes for the top 5 participants!
- Present your results at MVA 2025 in Kyoto

- Public Test Phase: February 4 – April 26, 2025
- Final Submission Deadline: May 10, 2025
