No other resort in the country offers families as many adventures as The Resort at Paws Up. And summer vacation is your chance to shine. Under bright Montana skies, you can take your kids on an epic kayaking trip, watch them rappel off Lookout Rock or wander on horseback with them through an endless pine forest.
During the summer months, we recommend keeping your pet off any asphalt as much as possible. Try taking them on a walk through the grass or a local field. Additionally, you can take your dog out to stretch his legs early in the morning or evening to beat the heat!
My wife and I went to Alaska for our 20 year anniversary and ended up in Fairbanks. We had been able while in Juneau to enjoy summer dog sledding so much that we wanted to do it one more time before going home.
We found paws for adventure on yelp and are so glad we did! They went out of their way to accommodate us last minute. We got easy instructions on how to get there only a 25 minute drive from princess riverside next to the airport and it was a scenic drive to their beautiful property.
It was so nice of them to take such good care of us and it was the icing on the cake of a spectacular trip to Alaska. Thank you Chase and paws for adventure for making our trip that much more enjoyable!
Available to students entering grades one through six, Loper Launch is a fun, engaging way for kids to continue learning during the summer while connecting with the UNK campus. They are really interesting and we read them to Dad even though we think he knew most of them. We were going to mention to the other week about how interesting your paws look Summer but Miss Fitz said you never mention a ladies feet.

Space is limited and registration for after care is available during the general camp registration. All after care fees follow the cancellation policy listed above. PLEASE NOTE: Due to a low number of registrants the past three summers, after care will be discontinued for all week long camps starting in the fall of 2023.
Designed for youth going into grades 1-6, Camp PAWS our camp program involves humane education lessons on many topics depending on the session and age group. Some past topics have been pet photography, animal communication, bird identification and wildlife conservation. Participants will also visit with adoptable animals each day, provide enrichment and training with shelter animals and enjoy presentations from local rescue organizations. If you are looking to attend two weeks of Camp PAWS this summer, we recommend registering for a week of session 1 and a week of session 2 as the activities repeat for each week within the same session. Please select the grade your child will be entering in the fall.
Guinea pigs are vulnerable to heat. Originally native to the cold heights of the Andes, these animals are better suited to cooler temperatures. Guinea pigs have no sweat glands, and heat regulation by means of sweating is not possible for them, meaning these rodents are exposed to great health risks in summer. Temperatures of 25C and above can leave them susceptible to heat stress, from 30C there is a high risk of death from heat. Long-haired breeds, very young/very old animals, pregnant or overweight guinea pigs are particularly susceptible to heat stress. However, whether kept indoors or outdoors, a few simple measures can be used to keep guinea pigs cool in the summer.
Guinea pig owners must pay attention to the summer dangers for their animals such as:
Heat stress is defined as 'Stress to the animal organism caused by heat with a negative influence on the metabolism, in particular on the water balance (danger of dehydration). In animals, the cardiovascular system is also affected'.
Summer is here and PAWS of Coronado is excited to launch its first summer camp, happening August 7-11 at the Coronado Animal Care Facility (1395 First Street). There are five fun-filled days planned, with two 3-hour sessions offered (AM & PM), designed to engage children ages 8-13 in hands-on activities that foster compassion and responsible pet ownership.
Foot pads can also be more prone to developing abrasive injuries during the summer months; this includes blistered foot pads resulting from activities where the dog is skidding or sliding on the pavement, running, playing fetch, and chasing kids or other dogs. With puppies, it is very important to gradually introduce outdoor activities in the summer weather; their pads will toughen over time.
Bandaging paws yourself is generally not recommended. If not done correctly, bandages can be placed too tight, damaging the foot and leg. Some dogs will tolerate a sock to keep the area clean, but caution is advised for dogs with a history of chewing and ingesting socks.
The Scott Air Force Base Library is hosting a summer reading program from June 9 to Aug. 1. Research has shown that summer reading programs can offset the loss of knowledge that occurs over the summer months. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Sarah Hall-Kirchner)
