Digital Moisture Meter for Copra Inquiry

I would like to ask for your assistance if you know a good digital moisture meter supplier here in the Philippines or nearby countries. We are looking to purchase just 5 units to start with to be delivered in the Philippines. This is a serious inquiry and we are looking to buy these units at the soonest possible time.

There was an anouncement from the Philippines, a few years ago:

Copra Moisture Meter

Coconut farmers are usually at the losing end whenever they sell their copra because traders estimate its moisture content only by observation. The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) estimated that farmers lose P1,600 to P2,000 per hectare every year due to overestimated moisture of copra.

Due to this observation, the PCA noted that a moisture meter is very important in marketing copra so that farmers would not always be at the losing end.

The good news is that this problem will end soon because Engr. Reynaldo P. Gregorio has developed a simple but digital moisture meter for copra. Engr. Ofero A. Caparino of BPRE said that his agency has been collaborating with PCA on the development of an affordable moisture meter.

The PCA has given P58,000 and other materials for the development of the moisture meter. The first prototype was only completed recently and was introduced to the public during the recent anniversary celebration of BPRE.

Five units of the first prototype which costs P2,000 each have been given to PCA for further field testing; a new prototype is now being developed. Caparino said the second prototype may cost P3,500 but it will be much lighter and easier to use. A similar moisture meter from Japan costs P35,000 to P42,000.

I have not used either of these meters so I cannot make any comparsion betwen them.

We actually did, we went to PCA to check the but currently unavailable. We also communicated to some people and online retail stores but we haven’t received any updates yet including Kett's website.

Segundo experiência que vivi na Madal, grande empresa do ramo,
a copra sofre quebra de humidade, até ao último estágio,
ao entrar para a prensa.
Os factores: Tempo e condições de ensaque e transporte são os mais
multiplicadores para os vários estágios.
Portanto, deverão ser consideradas estas quebras, segundo os estágios de:
- selecção do côco (maduro),
- Remoção absoluta do endocarpo sólido após a primeira secagem na estufa,
- Recolha total da copra seca das estufas para os armazéns primários,
- Recolha para armazéns de trânsito, quando em transportes fluviais
para seguirem para a fábrica de óleo
- Recolha dos armazéns primários das Plantações para os armazéns da
Fábrica de óleo.
Longos períodos de tempo, em armazém, associados a condiçoes
ambientais de alta humidade relativa,
mesmo com côco normal sem "Aceriase Guerrerronis", e de boa condição
do endocarpo sólido, podem
assumir perdas superiores a 18%.
