Access Data from a timed out read

Is there a way to access the data that has been read when a read operation times out?

I have an issue where the read operation is timing out before I get the whole message I was looking for and I was wondering (even if its only for debugging purposes) if there is a way to get access to the data that has been read in up to the point of the timeout?
