Eminent Commanders and Recorders of Chivalric District 9,
This Wednesday, we begin our presentation of our District Education Officer, Sir Knight Whit Robinson’s presentation of The History of the Knights Templar. Whit’s presentations are open to all Freemasons (EA, FC, MM).
In the Order of Malta (and you only get this in Long Form), there is a paragraph that connects the Knight Templars of old with the Knights Templar of today.
From the Order of Malta, “As you wipe away the spots that may dim the luster of that blade, so let your future life be pure and undefiled.
Its brightness is an emblem of faith; never let it be tarnished. Wield it virtuously. Fear not to encounter dangers and perils for the sake of Christ. Maintain justice, protect and relieve poor widows and friendless orphans, for this is the true faith and justification of the Christian Knight. His election, vocation, and satisfaction is to offer his soul to God, and his body to perils and dangers in His service.”
I added this portion to the email because we, as Christian Knights, try to emulate those virtues of the Knights Templars of old. Whit’s presentation, as he walks us through their journey in time, will allow us to learn about these virtues we hold so closely to our hearts, and how our ancient Brothers of old held those virtues for us to follow.
Whit will be presenting his first of three programs this Wednesday, September 10, at Turner Ashby Commandery. Dinner will be at 6:00 PM, and Whit’s presentation will start immediately after dinner.
Whit’s second presentation will be on Thursday, September 11, at Sinclair Commandery. Dinner will be at 6:30, and Whit’s presentation will start immediately after dinner.
Whit’s final presentation will be on Thursday, September 18, at Fredericksburg Commandery. Dinner will be at 6:30, and Whit’s presentation will start immediately after dinner.
WE ENCOURAGE: ALL BROTHER MASONS (EA, FC, MM), ROYAL ARCH COMPANIONS, AND SIR KNIGHTS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND. PLEASE PUSH THIS INFORMATION OUT TO YOUR BLUE LODGES, CHAPTERS, AND COMMANDERIES.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Paul W. Lockhart, PM, PDDGM
