COBRA Rugby Updates (21.06.2024)

Dear COBRAs

Blacks and Stingers

No games for COBRA last week. Usually, we would iron out some niggles arising from the post-game analysis during training. Hopefully, the Blacks have sorted it out for the final group game this week. We will come up against our long-time rivals the RSC Dogs to close the group stage on Sunday 23/6, 4.30pm at UPNM Sg. Besi.

As for the Stingers, can't say much as they are not training with us on our usual Tuesdays and Fridays. 

We used to look forward to training days where both teams would play a bit of touch, do fitness runs, and then break away into forwards and backs to run plays. This training together ensures cohesiveness in the team and specifically for Cobra players, the expectation on their behaviour and attitude on and off-field. And I suppose because of the lack thereof, TJ was about to smash his palm into one of those kids as things got heated during one of the KRS League games. Luckily for the boy, TJ has mastered the 'death stare' and the boy quietened down fast. 

Back in the day, JJ said that he would just be extra wary when seeing TJ and  Ray 'I saw the gap' Soh playing in a game for Cobra. If you were a betting person, there would be a 100% chance of winning if you mentioned their names when anyone asked who got a yellow card. Usual KC punishment ensues and in their defence while giggling, "I was provoked your honour! This is not fair!" AAaahhh Sudah lah!! No defense. Down it!

So, final pool game this week for the Stingers will be on Saturday 22/6, 2.30pm at UPNM Sg. Besi. The Stingers take on the ARC Knights.

Venom

Trainings on Tuesdays and Fridays continue to lead towards the National 7s in Terengganu from July 12th to 14th. Did you know, the Venom players are also in the Selangor team as well? Good job Faiz. 2 birds with 1 stone.  

 

The ladies are also going for a couple of tournaments in July. Both tournaments are on July 21st and 22nd.

1. BALIK PULAU 10s - The Junior / Development Team is targeted to attend. I hear Penang is having a 'durian runtuh' season. I know the Coaches / Team Manager are eagerly anticipating the durian hunt at BP.

2. MBSA 10s - The Senior Team is signed up for this Shah Alam City Council-run tournament.  Maybe Captain (B) Nazarudin Borhan can drop by to give them a cheer. 

 

Cobrats

Usual weekend runs continue with parents and their boys/girls.

As for the U14, Dillan and Saiful will be bringing their charges to Serdang for the Putra 7s this weekend. If you are there, drop by. 

Also, dont forget the Parents Touch Championship on July 6th. President Daryll and House Captain Sean 'White Boots' Pereira will be strutting their stuff on the field. 

Other Rugby Matters

Tomorrow is the Super Rugby Final between the Blues and Chiefs. 

Kick-off at 3.05pm (Malaysian Time). See you at the Sideline or the place formerly known as Cobra Club Bar.
