It has been a strange fall season. One day is different from the rest and not predictable to say the least. I guess you call it the mystery of bird migration. The banding station area was very quiet and no hummingbirds were observed. The Hermit Thrush recapture has been around for several days and has increased its weight each time. We caught this Hermit thrush yesterday and from then until today it gained over a gram. Not sure how fat or how much weight it thinks it needs to migrate south, only it knows.
