Hello Colorado Birders:
I made a few stops in Delta County midday on Saturday and tallied a fine assortment of waterfowl.
At Fruitgrowers Reservoir outside of Eckert, there were twelve duck species. A drake Cinnamon Teal stood out among the Green-winged Teal. Ring-necked Ducks and Common Mergansers were by far the most numerous. Three Bald Eagles were in attendance. The complete list of species can be viewed here: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S34316125
Next stop was Confluence Park in Delta. The drop-off in numbers (particularly Canada Geese) from when I visited the site in late January was conspicuous. Offsetting that was my first five goose species site in Colorado. Two Greater White-fronted Geese were the addition to go along with Cackling, Canada, Snow, and Ross's. Photos of all the species are in my eBird checklist here: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S34316413
