Re the Pink-footed Goose, I was out of town Monday and Tuesday.
Wednesday morning too lazy to get up at 5 am.
Thursday got up at 5 am, drove an hour to Longmont, but no goose. I went home too early and dipped.
Today finally saw it at Milavec Reservoir, f.k.a. Firestone Lake, thanks to many keen-eyed birders. Whew!
As the days ticked by this week I kept thinking of that Vince Gill song: “Give me one more last chance.”
“So give me just a one more last chance
Before you say we're through
I know I drive you crazy baby
It's the best that I can do
Give me just a one more last chance
Before you say we're through”
Brant was a bonus. I understand Chris Wood noticed it today out of about 500 geese that were flying in to Milavec. CW, like Steve Mlodinow, is a phenom.
Also visited the Larimer Landfill, trash apocalypse. Loved it…have not gotten into a landfill since 9/11. I saw a Bald Eagle terrorize the gulls, but no Gyr. On the way out I noticed a bunch of folks on W. Trilby, about 1,000 feet west of Taft Hill Road. They were looking at the Gyrfalcon, way up on top of a tall electrical tower, way up there. Happy day!
Three pics attached.
