Hi cobirders, I went with the Tuesday birders to Belmar Park and only went to the lake and east side viewing area. The island was very active with over 20
Double-crested Cormorants most on nests in the big tree. Altogether I saw 16 species. New for me for the year were 5 Great Blue Herons, Snowy Egret 1,
American Avocet 3 on the island (along with 20 Ringed Billed Gulls), Greater Scaup 1 male with greenish rounded head (with a great variety of ducks on the
water) and my first Common Grackle on the shore.
It was nice to get a summer day before the spring winter storm!
