Lots of watching, lots of shoveling, and doing my duty of uncovering snow from over the birdseed...

A Harris's Sparrow was in the yard today, along with a notable influx of Gray-headed Juncos joining the hungry Oregon, Pink-sided and Slate-coloreds. Gray-headeds had been scarce near my home in the recent 6 weeks. I suppose these moved down out of the local forests. Six Evening Grosbeaks flew in for a time; they were rare in Ken Caryl Valley this past winter. They lit in the same tree that was hosting a cluster of 9 Bushtits on a feeder, for a nice conjunction of stout and not. I had only been seeing pairs of Bushtits in my area lately, so maybe the snow brought them back into flock mode for a time
