Recent changes concerning boating on Denver lakes now allows boating Apr 1 - Nov 1 on Berkeley and Rocky Mountain lakes.  This change in policy effectively eliminates two important places for viewing large gatherings of migrating waterfowl during spring migration.  I witnessed 3 active watercraft on RMLP yesterday and there were no birds to be found on the lake.

I've noticed that there are not many "waterfowl" on most Colorado lakes this year.  Due to nice weather and "ice-out" happening in January/February did most ducks pass through already?  Grebes and loons are starting to build in number albeit slowly.

We can answer that question in a few weeks by watching activity on Colorado lakes.  However, two spots where the miracle of migration has been historically and dependently observed have been altered in such a way that we will not see it this year.
