Hey, all.
Please join The Nature Conservancy in Colorado for a field trip, free and open to the public, to Keystone Gorge, just outside Telluride, San Miguel County, this coming Wed., July 13. We'll meet at 8am MDT at the Galloping Goose trailhead on the western edge of Telluride. This is near the traffic circle as you come into Telluride, where 145 intersects with 145...only in Telluride! Trip co-leaders are Alston Williamson, Carlos Fernandez, Hannah Floyd, and Yours Truly.
We'll be birding and butterflying an out-and-back trail, about two miles each way, on a perfectly level and well-maintained trail with superb viewing of birds, butterflies, and scenery. All are welcome, no experience necessary; no RSVP required. Expect to be back at the trailhead by noon on Wed.
Hannah Floyd and Andrew Floyd and I will be out there for a couple of days, and we'll be delighted to hang out with anybody who wants to look for slime molds, edible and inedible mushrooms, and Pacific wrens and California condors (and, more realistically, black swifts and purple martins and such). Andrew is investigating the prospects for mountain biking the Via Ferrata; can't wait to see how that works out...
Hope to see some of you in Telluride in a few days!
Ted Floyd
