RMBO Barr Banding Station Update, 9/3/13

The Barr banding station is in its 27^th year, so it is hard to get “first evers”, but we had one today……an ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER.  A pretty scruffy-looking adult who was not happy to be caught!

 

Overall, a little more variety and higher numbers than yesterday.  We banded 30, plus caught 18 that we had banded previously, most from Monday when the early morning rain brought so many birds down.  Here’s the breakdown of the new birds:

Open Wed-Thurs, then closed Fri. Sat is Barr Lake's Fall Birding Festival, with a variety of fun activities and booths at the Nature Center, plus bird hikes and of course banding. Open Sun, closed Mon.
