to Colorado Birding
Greetings all
Today Sean Walters and I birded from Jackson Res to Barr Lake to Aurora Res
Jackson: landbirding pretty uneventful with best bird being a Myrtle Warbler. The lake is essentially all ice, but drinks and drabs of gulls came in and out, expecting or hoping, only to drift off. One was an adult GBB Gull, however.

Barr Lake is mostly open and mostly coated with waterfowl. 30,000 Cacklers was probably an underestimate. There were a few Snow, Ross's, and GWF mixed in but no hybrids. Near the feeders though, sharp eyed Sean picked out a Mountain x BC Chickadee, probably the same one Cathy Sheeter had here months ago.

At Aurora, unlike Barr, the res is mostly ice. A fair number of RB Gulls were about but very few larger gulls. Nonetheless we had an adult Kumliens Iceland (different from adult seen earlier in month by Dowell and others), a GWGU, and the SB Gull. With reasonable looks, we were able to see a small area of moderately dark smudging around the white eye and some streaking on the back of the neck. Finally, for all you goose fans, there were 2 Snow x Cackling Geese and one Ross's x Canada.
Good birding
