Hey, all. On a short, unbinoculared ramble about my Lafayette, Boulder Co., neighborhood earlier this foggy Wed. morning, May 10 [Mom's 84th birthday; note to self, CALL], I saw at least 6 clay-colored sparrows. Also heard several "whit" empids and heard a Pheucticus grosbeak.

Always nice to see clay-colored sparrows around Lafayette, but with the surface flow this morning directly upslope, their occurrence here was entirely predictable. Because this:

I imagine there's much more out there, especially stuff that migrates a bit to our east. Blackpoll warbler, anyone?

Also, if I may, a plea: counties, counties, COUNTIES in our COBirds reports. The ultimate offenders are those reporting from a mysterious place called CCSP. That's Castlewood Canyon State Park in Douglas Co., right? It's also the 4-letter code (just say no) for the clay-colored sparrow. (Hint: Cherry Creek State Park, Arapahoe Co.)

People, we can do this!
