On my way home from Chico Basin Ranch, where I saw, among other birds, gray flycatcher, hermit thrush and golden-crowned kinglet, I stopped at Squirrel Creek Rd and Ellicott to look for mountain plover. Did not see the plover, but there were two long-billed curlews in the same field on the south side of the road. They flew almost immediately to the northeast and they just kept going.
