ARAPAHOE COUNTY:

--A TRICOLORED HERON was found by Pratt at Cottonwood Creek Wetland Pond in Cherry Creek SP on June 12 and

relocated by Walbek on the S shore of the reservoir seen from the bootramp parking lot on the east side on June 12.

BOULDER COUNTY:

--A singing Indigo Bunting was reported by DeFonso at Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder on June 12.

--The Black Phoebe was reported by Larson East of the 75th St bridge over Boulder Creek on June 15.

FREMONT COUNTY:

--A TRICOLORED HERON was reported by Moss at Holcim Wetlands on June 15.  Holcim Wetlands is

still closed dues to high water so the bird must be viewed from the road.  Do not block gates.  

GILPIN COUNTY:

--A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Kaempfer at Snowline Lake area W of CO 119 on CR 12 on June 14.

JACKSON COUNTY:

--A Red-necked Grebe was reported on Facebook and this information was forwarded to CoBirds by DeFonso at Lake John on June 13.

JEFFERSON COUNTY:

--A Blue-winged Warbler was reported by Jones at Welchester Tree Grant Park on May 22.  On June 15, Mlodinow reported that the Blue-winged Warbler continues to sing at the east end of the park.  On June 16, the Blue-winged Warbler was reported on eBird.

--An ACORN WOODPECKER was reported Langel at Cheesman Reservoir with Red-headed Woodpeckers on June 7.  On June 9, Roller reported a f ACORN WOODPECKER at the spot described by Langel.  On June 10, DeFonso reported the ACORN WOODPECKER at the Stoney Pass Road site.  On June 13, Edwards reported that the ACORN Woodpecker continued at the Stoney Pass site.  One June 15, Chavez reported that the ACORN WOODPECKER continues at the Stoney Pass site.  Directions:  area just north of Cheesman -- Forest Road 211 from Wigwam Creek to turnoff to Cheesman at top of hill, then west of FR 560 (Stoney Pass Road).  Take Stoney Pass Road West when you get to Y stay to the right.  There is a parking area on right and a second small parking down the hill.  The ACORN WOODPECKER was hanging out with Red-headed on North side just West of parking area.

LAS ANIMAS COUNTY:

--A Curve-billed Thrasher was reported by Leatherman on his Ninaview BBS Route in a patch of cholla on CR 66 on June 11.

--2 Curve-billed Thrashers in cholla were reported by Leatherman on the Villegreen BBS route on June 12.

LOGAN COUNTY:

--At Tamarack Ranch on June 12 Mlodinow reported:  heard a singing WOOD THRUSH 1/4 mile W of road from I-76 to Crook (CR 81); a Carolina Wren near Headquarters/managers quarters; Indigo Bunting in fields in portion east of road to Crook near Areas 5 - 8; 4 Red-bellied Woodpeckers all east of road, Great Crested Flycatcher east of road near area 6 or 7; singing Bell's Vireos west of road; 7 Field Sparrows near Tamarack Pond south side of fields.

--At Red Lion SWA on June 12, Mlodinow reported GLOSSY IBIS and Bell's Vireo in plum hedgerow along the road.

MONTROSE COUNTY:

--A LESSER NIGHTHAWK and Least Tern were reported by Dexter 1 mile west of Nucla on a farm pond on May 26. The LESSER NIGHTHAWK was seen again the evening of May 28 by the farm pond.  On May 29 De Fonso reported that the LESSER NIGHTHAWK was seen again by ag ponds along 5th Ave W of town.  On June 3 Dexter reported 2+ LESSER NIGHTHAWKS W of Nucla.  On June 8, Dunning reported LESSER NIGHTHAWK W of Nucla.  On June 11, Dexter reported a f Lesser Nighthawk W of Nucla.

PROWERS COUNTY:

--A Caspian Tern was reported by Leatherman near gravel ponds by Arkansas River at N end of Main Street in Lamar, E of Cow Palace Hotel on June 13.

PUEBLO COUNTY:

--On June 12, Drummond reported an Eastern Phoebe at Doyle Road (CR 32) over Huerfano River.

--At Pueblo Mountain Park on June 12, Drummond reported a f ACORN WOODPECKER feeding young in the big dead Ponderosa near Horseshoe Lodge.

WELD COUNTY:

--A WOOD THRUSH was reported by Dowell at Crow Valley CG on June 12.  It was S of Picnic Area near large double-trunked Cottonwood where creek passes under the fence.

DFO Field Trips:

The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, June 21 will be to Bergen Park and Echo Lake led by Lynn Willcockson (303-757-7000 or lynnliz269 AT aol.com)  Limit 12 people.  Preregister with leader.

Meet Leader at 0800 at Fillius Park.  Go west on I-70 to exit 252 onto Evergreen Parkway (Hwy 74).  Go 2 miles on Hwy 74 to traffic light and turn right into Fillius Park.  Park at the Shelterhouse.  Trip will conclude mi-afternoon.

Beginners welcome.  Trip may include Summit Lake depending if any events are scheduled on Mt Evans that day.  Easy walk of about 3 miles total on level surfaces but at various elevations.  Bring lunch, water, hat, jacket, and sunscreen.

The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, June 22 will be to Rocky Mountain National Park led by Mary Cay Burger (303-771-3431 or mcburger  AT juno.com).  Meet the leader at 0800 at the Park Visitor Center, east of Beaver Meadows park entrance on US 36.  A 3/4 day trip.  Bring lunch, water, and clothes for changeable weather.  You will need a national parks pass or pay entry fee per car.  Hope to see ptarmigan and sapsuckers.  Please contact leader for other details.
