Kara Carragher, Cody Ensanian, and I saw a beautiful male Black-throated Green Warbler at Olney Springs SWA, in Crowley County this morning. Also, a male Black-throated Gray Warbler and Eastern Phoebe, both new County birds for me. There were two Least Flycatcher and a Virginia's Warbler there as well.
At Rocky Ford SWA, Otero County, we saw a Northern Waterthrush and three White-throated Sparrow.
Lake Holbrook in Otero County is still good for shorebirds, saw Semipalmated Plover, Snowy Plover, Semipalmated and Western Sandpipers, and many hundred Wilson's Phalaropes swimming on the water.
We were birding at Van's Grove in Bent County, when we heard about the Painted Redstart in Eads. We decided to head up there and see this amazing bird! Thanks all who let us know about it. Only the 2nd one I have seen in CO! The bird sang at least once, while we saw it.
At Melody Tempel Grove, in Bent County, we saw the continuing Summer Tanager, that Jane, Janeal, Norma found for us.
Ended our birding day, at Lamar Community College Grove in Prowers County, where we saw Field Sparrow in the south end and the always fun to see Northern Cardinals.
Also, heard Black Rail in eastern Pueblo County, on the way out to SE Colorado.
