This morning (6/11), I went out to my car (west Centennial [Arapahoe]) and spotted, beyond two jousting flickers, a smaller, drab bird moving like a Sage Thrasher. I ran inside for my binoculars, hoping I wasn't simply seeing, badly, a pale robin. I wasn't -- there was indeed a Sage Thrasher crossing the street, running up the sidewalk, and disappearing into a neighbor's yard. I was surprised to pick up this new yard bird at this time of the year.

About a week ago (6/5), I came upon a family of Common Ravens at Streets of Southglenn (University & Arapahoe in Centennial). The shopping center is usually the best place in the area to spot a raven, but I hadn't seen a family here before. It looks like there was a nest on top of one of the Macy's signs. Had I been a more curious birder over the previous two months, I would have gone looking for these birds, spotted the nest, and been able to watch the entire nesting process play out...it's such a highly visible location! Hopefully next year...
