to Colorado Birding
Greetings All
On a whim I headed SE today. I started at Jett Res in Kiowa, which only had a few shorebirds unlike a week ago. Perhaps due to local Peregrine in attendance.
Then went to Neenoshe locust grove where the scrubby locust, tamarisk and Russian Olives held 50 species of land birds. Highlights included
Mourning Warbler - imm female
Painted Bunting - green type
Bells Vireo
2 Indigo Bunts
BAW Warbler
3 Ovenbird
Cassin's Vireo
2 Plumbeous Vireo
Townsend's Warbler
4 Western Tanagers
J&J (Jane and Janeal or Janeal and Jane- your choice) came out after the Mourning and found it. Plus 2 more Cassin's and a Summer Tan!!!!
At the west end of John Martin Reservoir an imm white morph Reddish Egret made a minute or so showing before disappearing back into the marsh. There are thousands of shorebirds (16 species) tho nothing rare. The other "goodies" at Martin were a young Sabines Gull and a Lesser BB Gull
Good Birding
