BENT COUNTY:
--At Temple Grove on June 6, Moss reported a m Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
BOULDER COUNTY:
--On June 9, Burke reported a singing Indigo Bunting on Eldorado Open Space.
--On June 8, Floyd reported an Eastern Phoebe at the 63rd St bridge over the St Vrain River.
--On June 6, Werthele reported a singing m Rose-breasted Grosbeak by the Gregory Canyon parking area. On June 9, Floyd reported a noisy m Rose-breasted Grosbeak by the Gregory Canyon trailhead.
--On June 5, Norfleet reported that the Boulder Bird Club Wednesday Roadrunners saw two m Rose-breasted Grosbeaks in Louisville. One was by Callahan Open Space and the other near the SW corner of Monarch Court and Franklin Ave.
DOUGLAS COUNTY:
--At Roxborough SP on June 8, Matheus reported a m Indigo Bunting near the visitor's center and an Ovenbird.
EL PASO COUNTY:
--On June 2, Hinds reported a Pacific Loon at Big Johnson near the dirt parking area. On June 3, Pals reported the Pacific Loon near the dam. On June 5, Kosar reported the Pacific Loon near the dam at Big Johnson.
FREMONT COUNTY:
--Black-throated Sparrows were reported by Walbek near Florence in cholla E of the Federal prison on June 6.
HUERFANO COUNTY:
--On June 6, Walbek reported a HEPATIC TANAGER at I-25 and exit 42. On June 8, Dowell reported the HEPATIC TANAGER
at the same spot and Mark Miller found a singing male PHILADELPHIA VIREO just down the road from the tanager spot.
The vireo is very pale.
JACKSON COUNTY:
--On June 5, Vaughn reported a possible MAGNIFICENT FRIGATEBIRD over North Park.
KIOWA COUNTY:
--On June 8, Driscoll reported Piping Plover at Adobe Creek Reservoir.
LARIMER COUNTY:
--2 m singing Ovenbirds were reported by Leatherman in Rist Canyon on June 5.
LAS ANIMAS COUNTY:
--An Eastern Phoebe was reported by Dowell at Apishapa SWA on June 8.
MONTEZUMA COUNTY:
--On June 5, Beatty reported a Caspian Tern at Narraguinnep.
MORGAN COUNTY:
--A Scissor-tailed Flycatcher was reported by Luger SW of Jackson Reservoir on CR 2 with Western Kingbirds on June 4.
PHILLIPS COUNTY:
--On June 2, Wild reported a YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON in the bed of Frenchman's Creek just below the Lion's Fishing Hole in Holyoke and a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER and GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH in the bed of Frenchman's Creek near the east end of Akron Street in Holyoke. THE YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was seen by Tomky on June 3.
PUEBLO COUNTY:
--On June 8, Cowan reported an ACORN WOODPECKER in the big dead tree by the parking area at Pueblo Mountain Park near Beulah.
DFO FIELD TRIPS:
The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, June 15 will be to Pawnee Grassland, Pawnee Buttes, and Crow Valley Campground led by Ira and Tammy Sanders
(303-278-7172). Meet the leader at 0530 at the State Parks and Wildlife office parking Lot at 6060 Broadway. Take 58th St exit off of I-25. Go west to Broadway and the north to parking lot. This will be an all day trip. Bring lunch, hat, plenty of water, radios. Be prepared for predicted weather.
The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, June 16 will be to the Lyons Area led by Raymond Davis. Meet at the Lyons Park-n-Ride just south of 4th and Main St. (by the skateboard park and library) at 0830. Plan on walking level ground for a mile or three, a bit of car birding, and then eating lunch on Davis's decks until we get bored. Wheelchair accessible.
