Hi everyone,
This is my CObirds debut post! My name is Anna Harris, I was hired seasonally by the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory to run the Fort Collins Banding Station.
Thought I'd take a minute to introduce the Fort Collins banding station located in Fort Collins (Larimer County) on the Poudre bike path bordering Lee Martinez Park and the Museum of Discovery (
Google Map location).
This is the second season of the banding station; we started last fall with 3-4 weeks of banding and have been open this spring since April 24th. We have 4-5 nets open each day, and hope to expand this project in the coming years. Just found out today we'll be staying open until the end of May!! You can find us on the trail banding birds Tues - Sat 7-11am weather permitting.
It seems as though the migrants are just starting to pick up in this area! Yesterday was an exciting day with quite a few new species for our station; today a bit slower due to wind. Here are our daily lists:
