Chico Basin Ranch Banding Station Report-Bird Conservancy of the Rockies-September 21, 2026

Some major storms went through overnight here on the Ranch. Much Needed Rain. A few Wilson's Warblers were around today. I have not seen any flycatchers today so they must be mostly south of here. We banded a Brown Creeper today which is new for me at the Chico banding station. Such camouflaged birds that always impress me with their many brown feathers and that curved bill. Brown Thrashers are still hanging around. Guess they are finding food in the leaf litter. The recaptured Swainson's Thrush lost a couple tenths in weight since Saturday. Not sure why they are not finding enough food to fatten up to migrate?
