"Classic" Google groups is no more

It looks like Google has finally pulled the plug on the "Classic" Google Groups, but as far as I can see it hasn't fixed the issues with using it from a mobile device. I can no longer create a New conversation or Reply to existing conversations from my Android phone. Also, I can't "Reply to Author" from the desktop version. It also appears to be the same problems on iPhones from looking at the frustrations in the link below.

Looks like no more "instant" notifications of rarities on CoBirds.

See the link below for more people's frustrations with this "upgrade"...


Hopefully someone can find a way around this or Google fixes these problems quickly.

Question for you Adrian - are you accessing the Colorado Birds messages by going into the web group, or are you getting the messages sent to you via e-mail?  

I get the messages sent to me via e-mail and I am not sure I am seeing the same issues you mention - for example, I definitely had the option to send this reply to you only or to the whole group.  I am replying to all in case others are experiencing similar issues and this discussion can help all find reasonable solutions.

Both. I get emails, but also use the web to actually go to the group. Yes, you can definitely do a reply to the email since that isn’t part of the Google Groups application.

I can’t send any sightings in the field on my IPhone 11. I use to be able to write & send, not now. I agree Adrian.

OK, so it looks like we can post a new Conversation to the group via mobile devices by creating a new email to the Cob...@googlegroups.com address. I used my mobile Outlook application, but I'm sure all other email applications would work.

Thanks to Diana for pointing me to this workaround by her email reply to me.

Hopefully Google fixes their problems soon.

Hi all

Using a web browser and a computer in visiting COBIRDs, the REPLY TO AUTHOR is greyed out--seems a permission issue that OWNER of list might be able to resolve? I could paste an image in New Conversation but it did not process the image (left out).
