Boulder/Weld County Birding before the snow

This morning actually presented pretty good conditions for birding, so John Vanderpoel and I got together at Walden Ponds in Boulder to then head further east.  Ducks were abundant today, but we could not turn up anything particularly unusual—not even an early Cinnamon Teal; and there were some spots that had almost no birds.  The Teller Lakes trailhead Golden-crowned Sparrow was present, today in the sparrow flock foraging south of the feed lot area.  An adult Lesser Black-backed Gull was at Prince Lake #2 and a single California Gull at LUNA Reservoir in Weld Co.  A Virginia Rail responded in the ditch along Kenosha Rd. just west of County Line Road near Erie.  Finally, the long-present Tundra Swan at Valmont continues, today way back along the north shore of Leggett Reservoir.
