Surf Scoter at Valco Ponds, Fremont Co.

This morning there was a Juv. (or maybe Fem.) Surf Scoter at the Valco Pond west of Mackenzie Ave in Canon City.  It was with the numerous ducks, geese, etc. that have been here since the cold snap.

 

Around noon, a huge flock of hundreds of geese descended en masse on the east Valco Pond.  In this flock were four Snow Geese and twelve White-fronted Geese.  The rest were Cackling/Canada mix.
