Bird Conservancy of the Rockies - Barr Lake Banding Report, 9/20/26

For the second day, an early evening thunderstorm last night, very wet nets when we arrived to open this morning, and the same number of new birds banded - 19:

American Kestral 1 (A bird that is seen frequently around the station but rarely caught - only the second in 20 years.  Small for a raptor but fierce!)

Orange-crowned Warbler 3

Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon's  2

Wilson's Warbler 5

Spotted Towhee 1

Lincoln's Sparrow 2

Song Sparrow 3

White-crowned Sparrow, Gambel's 1

Dark-eyed Junco, Oregon 1

We are open Tuesday through Sunday, weather permitting, through October 23.  Most weekday mornings there is a visitor session from 7:30 to 8:30, and on the weekends there are sessions at 8, 9 and 10 a.m.  Reservations are needed; here is the link.   Please join us......It is a great year to visit Barr!
