Bird Conservancy Banding Report - Barr Lake Station, 9/12/19

Today was a great day, with lots of birds and some interesting species.  Wilson's Warblers made up half of the birds, but we had a total of 15 species, including the first of season Cassin's Vireo, Virginia's Warbler, Western Tanager and White-crowned Sparrow.  We also had a leucistic vireo, which we are pretty sure is a Warbling.....very beautiful but strange looking bird!  Here's the breakdown of the 62 new birds for the day:

We are open 6 days per week, Tuesday-Sunday, weather permitting, through October 13. We are opening nets at 6:40 and should have birds back at the station by 7:20. We will close nets most days at 11:40, although we are closing earlier as needed due to the heat. School groups arrive most weekdays at about 9:30. The best time to visit (fewest people, most birds) is before 9:30 weekdays and Sundays.
