Sabine’s Gull (Douglas, Jefferson, *Pueblo) 

Caspian Tern (Douglas)

Philadelphia Vireo (*Jefferson)

Purple Martin (*Pueblo)

PRAIRIE WARBLER (Jefferson)


DENVER COUNTY:

—On September 13 a GROOVE-BILLED ANI continued in the Sand Creek riparian, between Westerly Creek and Smith Rd, where it was first reported September 8 by Jason Bidgood. So far about 200 birders have seen it (plus a few non-birding spouses). Park on Xanthia St, near Smith Rd.

—On September 9 a White-winged Dove was reported at Sand Creek—Westerly Creek to Smith Rd by Tony Leukering.


DOUGLAS COUNTY:

—On September 12 a Sabine’s Gull was reported at Chatfield SP—Plum Creek delta by Claire H. This is an expected passage migrant in September.

—On September 9 a Caspian Tern was reported at the Chatfield SP—Marina Sandpit by Kevin Williams.


JEFFERSON COUNTY:

—On September 12 a Philadelphia Vireo was reported at Chatfield SP—Deer Creek by James McCall.

—On September 11 Sabine’s Gull was reported at Chatfield SP—S Platte Delta by Lorraine Lanning. 

—On September 8 a PRAIRIE WARBLER was reported on the trail from the Kingfisher Bridge parking lot toward the South Platte River delta by Michael Lester.


KIOWA COUNTY:

—On September 7 and 9 a RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD was seen in Eads by Steven Mlodinow.


PUEBLO COUNTY:

—On September 13 Sabine’s Gull was reported at Pueblo Reservoir—Sailboard area; first reported September 11 by Evan Carlson.

—On September 12 a Purple Martin, rare on the plains in fall, was seen at Chico Basin Ranch (Headquarters) by Myron Gerhard. 


WASHINGTON COUNTY:

—On September 8 a Buff-breasted Sandpiper was reported near the inlet canal of Prewitt Reservoir; first reported September 7 by David Tonnesson.
