RFI: Recommendation for Laptop that can handle world travel

Hey all,

We are looking for a laptop that is suitable for travel and can handle  the extremes of Alaska to the tropics and everything in between. 

I am hoping that some of you might have recommendations of what has worked and what hasn't worked for you based on your own experiences of taking a laptop with you on birding trips.

Any and all information is appreciated as to which brands hold up and which have problems handling the cold and heat and humidity.
