Birders,
The Brant was still present at Houts Lake with it's 3 companions this a m.  They were in the water and acting very skittish.

The Houts Lake Brant was still in the same area at about 1 PM Tuesday.  I'm wondering how wild this goose is.  When we first arrived it was eating grass in the vicinity of the 3 Canada Geese.  A woman walking a dog came down the path and the 3 Canada Geese retreated to the water while the dog was still a long way off, the Brant did likewise when they got closer but came back on land a little later and resumed feeding.  Another woman walked down the path (with no dog) and the Brant, while looking more alert and moving toward the water a little, allowed her to pass within about 20 feet then turn and stare while it resumed feeding.  The 3 Canada Geese remained well out in the water during this time.  Don't know what this  behavior means but I wonder.
